Applying Residual Herbicide After Soybeans Emerge

Categories: PLANTING, SOYBEANS

Planting corn and soybeans simultaneously creates a challenging herbicide application environment. Add in windy days, and there is a risk that residual chemistry will not be applied prior to planting and/or emergence.

When soybean fields have been planted prior to a residual product application, remain diligent to overlapping residuals, even if you have to call an “audible” at the line of scrimmage. Considering the calendar date and the length of time waterhemp will germinate drives this response. Below are several examples of how residual herbicides may be used when soybeans emerge before herbicide application.

If you don’t want to apply a dicamba tank mix partner, Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans can be treated as Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans.

Visit the appropriate herbicide website before spraying for more application requirements, including tank mix options. Consider weed resistance on a field-by-field basis before proceeding with the programs outlined above.
