Meet Roger Plooster - Agronomist

An agronomist for 19 years, Roger covers southwest Minnesota and has been in the seed business 29 seasons. He works mostly with corn and soybeans, but his expertise goes beyond those crops with handling alfalfa, sunflower, sorghum and wheat.

In tough-weather years, it’s easy to make emotional decisions when it comes to crop planning. Roger counsels his customers to develop their long-term crop production goals and follow their plan. “What we all need to do is step back and ask some questions about planting population, timing and expectations. And that’s the way we get the right hybrid placed on the right acre,” he states.

The E-Luminate® digital agronomy platform is one tool from Golden Harvest to help with hybrid selection and tracking factors going into sound decision making. Flexibility is always necessary, but having information allows for rational planning. Roger combines advanced technology with his expertise to deliver the Service 365 year-round commitment to doing whatever it takes to optimize yield results.

When he’s not working, Roger enjoys shooting skeet and target clays. His hobby requires the same kind of precision and continual development his work as an agronomist does. To be on target, it requires vision and a desire for optimum results.
