Passionate about understanding fertility and matching soils with best management practices and the right seed genetics, Charles enjoys helping Michigan farmers maximize their crop potential. Charles earned his bachelor’s and master’s agricultural degrees from Michigan State University and is a certified crop adviser. He has been with Golden Harvest and its legacy brands for 20 years.
Charles’ favorite part of being an agronomist is working with farmers to solve issues on the farm that often go unnoticed. “I walk into a field and try to let the crop tell me what’s wrong,” says Charles. “Digging roots, asking questions, and making detailed observations tend to help in correctly identifying ways we can improve yields, field by field.”
As a huge proponent of technology, he leans on the E-Luminate® digital agronomy platform to deliver Service 365 year-round commitment to doing whatever it takes to optimize yield results. “The digital agronomy tools in E-Luminate, such as satellite imagery, field mapping, GaME Plan hybrid selection and Decision Hub, are just a few examples of how I can help our customers get the most out of every acre they farm.”
Outside work, Charles enjoys farming, raising livestock and spending time with his wife and two boys in central Michigan.
