Take Action to Protect Your Late-Planted Soybeans

Categories: PLANTING, SOYBEANS
Share:
A delayed start to the season has the potential to rush soybean planting. This can sometimes mean planting into wet soils, which can limit plant development and root growth. It’s a combination that can also reduce yield potential, especially if the growing season later turns dry.

Root growth is critical regardless of season, but it becomes more challenging when planting is rushed into soil conditions that are too wet. If you’re a farmer facing such conditions, it is important to be aware of the potential impacts. These include sidewall compaction, which can limit root mass and have negative effects on nutrient and water uptake throughout the season.

Another threat can occur when soils become saturated immediately after planting. This condition can prevent or delay germination and plant development, and the longer period of time required for the plant to establish increases the likelihood for seed rot and root infection from diseases, or sustaining damage from insects.

Treating your soybeans with Golden Harvest Preferred™ Seed Treatment, a combination of separately registered products, can help get your beans off to a strong start. The seed treatment protects soybeans against a broad spectrum of harmful seed and foliar-feeding insects, and all major seed- and soil-borne fungal disease pathogens.

With the RootingPower of sedaxane, the active ingredient in Vibrance®, Golden Harvest Preferred™ Seed Treatment can improve plant stand, vigor and growth, helping set the stage for higher yields.
