Meet Steve Heinemann - Agronomist

Raised on a family beef cattle and row crop farm, Steve has always been passionate about agriculture. Steve initially gained experience in retail agronomy, seed, plant nutrition and crop protection before covering northeastern Nebraska Golden Harvest agronomy in 2013. Steve lives in Winside, Nebraska, and enjoys helping farmers address corn and soybean crop challenges.

As a soil and fertility expert, Steve also works with farmers to manage soil compaction. As Steve explains, “Soil compaction will restrict the root growth, and that corn plant doesn’t get off to a good start. Nutrients and water are hindered when the root isn’t developed correctly from the beginning, and that’s a big part of corn rootworm management as well.”

Charting success for farmers is central to the Service 365 year-round commitment to doing whatever it takes to optimize yield results. It doesn’t just mean knowing their issues, knowing their soils, and knowing the appropriate hybrids and varieties to alleviate tough conditions. To Steve, it also means listening. “What I try to do is listen to what their needs are, learn about their operation and their farm, and discover what some of their pain points might be.”
