As a University of Iowa graduate with his bachelor’s in biology, Ryan covers Golden Harvest agronomy in south east Iowa and northeast Missouri. Ryan brings 17 years of professional ag experience to the Golden Harvest team.
Ryan’s knowledge of soils and soil conditions is comparable to his passion of getting to know his farmers. For him, being able to spot things other agronomists might overlook is a point of pride. “I’ve seen some new diseases popping up in the soil this season—things that have been misdiagnosed. That’s why I make sure I educate myself on them before I start to advise the farmer,” says Ryan. “Once I have a handle on what’s going on, I can help the farmer choose a hybrid with traits that are tolerant, or have resistance, to the diseases we’re seeing.”
Ryan finds great satisfaction in not only doing his job as a Golden Harvest agronomist, but also in getting to know the farmers and their families in southern Iowa. He’s personally invested in their success because he genuinely cares. Having the ability to use his knowledge to improve the businesses and lives of others is why he’s out there walking the fields every day. It’s all part of the Service 365 year-round commitment to doing whatever it takes to optimize yield results
Ryan and his wife raise their 3 children in Knoxville, Iowa. In his free time, Ryan enjoys hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and playing games with his family.
