Missouri harvest: Golden Harvest® corn and soybeans yield well despite variable moisture conditions, insect pressure

  • Golden Harvest® hybrids and varieties withstood a whole host of challenges in 2017
  • Agrisure® traits protect genetic potential against many of today’s toughest field threats
  • Golden Harvest Seed Advisors add local knowledge to optimize field placement

MINNETONKA, Minn., USA, Nov. 28, 2017– Harvest reports indicate that Golden Harvest® corn and soybeans are ending 2017 on a high note, overcoming yet another season of curveballs from Mother Nature that included a stretch of hot temperatures and insect pressure. Powered by broad genetic diversity and high-performing traits and technologies, Golden Harvest hybrids and varieties offer farmers agronomic options for various field types, soil characteristics and weather conditions.

“As the yields results are showing, farmers benefit from having access to the range of hybrids and varieties Golden Harvest offers,” said Scott Gard, a Golden Harvest agronomist based in Missouri. “You never know if you’re going to be hit by the drought experienced in some northern and northeastern parts of the state or by the excessive rainfall experienced by others. That’s why it’s so important to choose corn and soybean seeds that will help maximize the chance of end-of-year success regardless of what happens during the season.”

Golden Harvest corn is bred to perform well in a range of environments, with Agrisure® traits and technologies – including Agrisure Duracade®, Agrisure Viptera® and Agrisure Artesian® – protecting yield potential through proven insect control and water optimization. E-Z Refuge® options provide convenient, integrated single-bag refuge offerings. In Missouri, top 2017 performers so far include:

  • G10T63-3120 E-Z Refuge brand, which features outstanding test weight and a strong foliar disease package to maximize yield potential. It outyielded all Pioneer® hybrids by an average of 3 bushels per acre (bu/A) in trials across Missouri and eastern Kansas.1
  • G14V04-3000GT brand, proven to yield well even in stress environments – minimizing the risk of weather events like this year’s heat wave. In comparisons across northern Missouri and southern Iowa, it bested all DeKalb® hybrids by an average of 2.7 bu/A.2

Golden Harvest also offers soybean producers many proven performance-class varieties across a wide range of relative maturities. These varieties protect against many of today’s toughest challenges, including soybean cyst nematodes, sudden death syndrome, brown stem rot and Phytophthora root rot. Top varieties in Missouri this season include:

  • GH3982X brand, a broadly adapted new variety with top-end yield punch. It outperformed all Asgrow® varieties by an average of 4.2 bu/A in comparisons across northern Missouri and southern Iowa.3
  • S39-C4 brand, which offers strong stress tolerance and yield stability. It topped all Asgrow varieties by an average of 6.6 bu/A in regional trials.4

All Golden Harvest hybrids and varieties are sold exclusively by independent Golden Harvest Seed Advisors, whose local expertise helps identify the best seed-to-field fit to maximize performance. In select geographies, these Seed Advisors also provide access to Enogen® hybrids, featuring an in-seed innovation that benefits farmers marketing grain to ethanol plants. Enogen grain enhances the ethanol production process by improving process efficiency.
