Christian County Seeds Receives Golden Harvest® Ambassador Award

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., USA, Oct. 3, 2019 – Christian County Seeds, Stonington, Illinois, was recently honored with the Golden Harvest® Ambassador Award. Golden Harvest Sales Representative Eddie Kahle presented the award to Darrick Fleming from Christian County Seeds, who is a Golden Harvest Seed Advisor.

“Farmers faced a really tough spring this year with all the rain and flooding. Without Darrick’s forethought through the planting delays, his customers would not have gotten their corn and soybean seed in a timely fashion,” said Kahle. “Darrick has a unique service model, delivering seed directly to customer fields and loading it for them. That was critical this year, as he swapped out seed to get the right maturity products to his customers for the shorter growing season. That value really showed through in 2019.”

Fleming has been a Seed Advisor for 12 seasons, with a territory covering southern Illinois and southwest Indiana. Christian County Seeds is located in the Garwood Seed Co. facility, which previously sold Golden Harvest seed. The lasting legacy of Garwood is evident in Fleming’s approach to customer service.

“With only two or three days available to plant in April, I spent time preparing for and anticipating customer needs in terms of equipment and seed,” he said. “We had to make a lot of decisions, working several days in advance of those needs, and also help other dealers as we managed through the weather uncertainty.”

“Darrick and I share a common goal for helping customers improve their businesses,” added Kahle. “We work together through the Golden Harvest brand to bring greater value to local farmers.”

The same is true of Fleming’s community service. He works with his wife, Bonnie, and another full-time employee, Luke Daugherty, to maintain solid relationships with customers and area residents. Christian County Seeds financially supports local FFA and 4-H chapters, area sports teams, community parades and events and churches and schools, along with advertising to raise awareness of issues like ag safety and ag education.

“We try to cover a lot of bases and keep our dollars local,” said Fleming. “We will continue that support in the future whether it is for worthy causes or to tackle whatever Mother Nature doles out for our customers.”

The Golden Harvest Ambassador Award is part of the company’s commercial recognition program which recognizes top-performing Seed Advisors who model the Syngenta culture and leadership approach.
